Stroke per minute…

So I may have been rowing all wrong… I don’t know.

When I row longer distances -5k, I try to maintain 18-19 spm. When I row 2k my upper limit is 21spm and I try to never stray up from that. Those are speeds I feel natural, but that may be because I’ve learned to row with these stroke rates due to some bad advice in the beginning.

I’ve been reading a lot online that the perfect stroke rate for most workouts is 24–30 spm ?

Is that true?
