Why are Hudsons so underrepresented on the international racing scene?

I know Hudsons have a rep for being pretty rubbish at turning etc so I can see why for clubs which follow the standard head/regatta season year structure having a Hudson as your boat for both might not work, but for an olympic/international regatta crew going in a straight line, where money for boats much less of an issue, why is it that Hudsons are so uncommon?
