Tips for loosing weight but getting faster

I am a J16 rower and I have a 6:50 2k, I’m looking to have brought this down to about a 6:45 by mid January to February. This is obvioulsy going to be difficult with exams and covid, etc… But I also want to improve my water times as they are slacking due to my weight gain.
